Join us to be inspired by homes throughout the Lancaster District that have improved energy efficiency. This will range from typical homes with simple measures such as energy efficient boilers to the award winning Lancaster Cohousing Passivhaus development. The weekends are 29/30 March and 17/18 May 2014

Lancaster Cohousing and LESS bring you Lancaster Green Open Homes!

Saturdays 29th March and 17th May 12-5pm
Visit the award winning Lancaster Cohousing at Forgebank, the largest Passivhaus development in the UK, next to the River Lune in Halton.
Turn up anytime to view one of our 41 Passivhaus and CSH level 6 homes and chat to the resident.
Tours at 12, 2 and 4pm will include technical details about the Passivhaus homes, the communal facilities, the largest community Hydro scheme in the UK currently being built, the renewable technologies, the ethical business hub in the refurbished Halton Mill and details about living in cohousing.
Refreshments will be available.

Sundays 30th March and 18th May 12-5pm
Visit homes throughout the District with energy efficient measures
- Talk to householders about how they did it, what it cost, and what it saves
- Ask experts for advice on energy saving and funding - with no sales talk
- Book yourself a free home energy survey
Homes include townhouses, stone built and hard to insulate homes, an apartment block which has saved thousands on lighting bills and a rural off grid holiday bungalow.

Technologies include: solar PV; solar hot water; internal and external insulation; energy efficient lighting; draught proofing: small wind turbines; energy efficient and biomass boilers; and more

Saturday 17th May
Energy Fair, Halton Mill at Forgebank

Fun and information for all the family. Activities for children include a smoothie making bicycle, bouncy castle and outdoor games, craft workshops including making windmills.  Meet the energy efficiency experts and see samples; hear talks from experts about saving energy; watch inspiring films, test drive an electric car, have lunch or tea and cake in the cafe.
